- As per the latest flood alert from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the risk of exceptionally high flood levels in Sindh has decreased due to dyke breaching between Qadirabad and Punjnad at River Chenab. According to the report of NDMA dated 17th September, 2014, Monsoon rains have affected 1,808,167 individuals caused 318 deaths and 568 people got injured in AJK, Punjab and GB. As per UNOCH report of 11th September, the authorities expect an estimated 3 million people to be affected by the floods in the coming days.
- Multi‐sector Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) is being conducted in five of the worst‐affected districts in Punjab: Jhang, Mandi Bahauddin, Multan, Chiniot and Hafizabad. Data collection is ongoing in the districts from September 17 to 20 and will be crucial to provide an initial overview of the scope of damages and needs.
